Mr. Sajith Premadasa, the leader of the opposition, said that the government has put the people under serious pressure by imposing taxes upon taxes, and the people face so much burden that they cannot bear it.

The opposition leader said that these taxes will be used to provide relief to the ministers and to pay compensation to the MPs who suffered damages in the recent past.

The opposition leader further said that the people of the country should know the agreement made with the International Monetary Fund and said that the people of the country cannot be compensated for the agreements signed secretly.

The leader of the opposition noted that the government led by the former president failed because it became a pawn based on individual decisions, and it is happening in the same way today.

The Leader of the Opposition said this today (06) in the office of the Leader of the Opposition in Colombo.
