Sri Lanka Freedom Party Secretary General MP Dayasiri Jayasekara’s party membership has been suspended by the party chairman, former president Maithripala Sirisena, subject to the approval of the politburo. (Sri Lanka Latest News)
The Politburo which met yesterday (September 05) at the residence of the former President took the decision.
The letter sent by party President Maithripala Sirisena suspending party membership to Dayasiri Jayasekara states that a disciplinary inquiry will also be conducted against him according to the party constitution.
The letter also states that the charge sheet will be sent within 14 days.
Sarath Ekanayake has been appointed as the Acting General Secretary of Sri Lanka Freedom Party.
Dayasiri Jayasekara said that legal action will be taken against the decision taken by the Politburo.
