Tilvin Silva, the General Secretary of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna, stated that when the National People’s Power government assumed office, Sri Lanka was in a state of bankruptcy. He highlighted that the country has only recently emerged from this dire situation. Silva further emphasized that international rating agencies have upgraded Sri Lanka’s status, affirming that the country is no longer bankrupt.
“We began as a bankrupt nation. But in just two months, we have transformed it into a nation that is no longer bankrupt,” Silva remarked during his speech at a public meeting of the National People’s Power.
