Four Arrested, Including Soldier, in Fatal Shooting Outside Mannar Court Complex

Four individuals, including an army soldier, have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting incident that occurred in front of the Mannar Court Complex.

According to police reports, a disabled former army personnel is among those taken into custody. Authorities have also recovered the pistol used in the attack.

The incident unfolded this morning (16) when two individuals on a motorbike opened fire on a group of people who were on their way to appear before the Mannar Court for an ongoing case. The shooting took place in front of the court complex.

Tragically, two people lost their lives in the attack, while another individual, including a woman, sustained serious injuries and was admitted to the hospital for treatment.

The deceased have been identified as Selvakumar Sudaharan, also known as Jude, a 42-year-old resident of Nochchikulam, Uilankulam, Mannar, and Sawariyan Arul, a 61-year-old man.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Buddhika Manatunga, the Police Media Spokesperson, confirmed that three suspects, including a soldier attached to the Narahenpita Army Hospital, were directly involved in the shooting. All three, along with a fourth suspect, are now under police custody.
