Sri Lanka Customs has reported a record revenue collection of Rs. 2,497 billion for the past year, according to Customs Media Spokesperson and Director of Customs, Chandana Punchihewa.

The initial revenue target set by the Ministry of Finance for 2025 was Rs. 2,115 billion, which Customs had already achieved by November. Following this, the target was revised upward to Rs. 2,231 billion, he added.

Speaking to the media, Punchihewa confirmed that the revised target has now been exceeded, attributing the achievement to various measures implemented within Customs.

He further explained:

“When setting this year’s revenue target, last year’s target was Rs. 1,531 billion. This year, the target was significantly increased to Rs. 2,115 billion, taking into account the decision to allow vehicle imports in 2025. Vehicle imports, along with the various measures adopted by Customs, contributed to exceeding the revenue target.”
