The President of the Sri Lanka Bar Association, Mr. Kaushalya Navaratne, emphasized the significance of legal compliance over issuing arrogant statements. In an interview with Lankadeepa, he highlighted that most parliamentarians are involved in legal matters, granting lawyers the capacity to represent drug suspects regardless of fees.

His remarks followed media reports indicating the Ministry of Public Security’s intention to disclose lawyers earning substantial sums representing drug offenders and criminals
