Deputy Minister Harshana Suriyapperuma stated that Sri Lanka is expecting to re-engage with the Office of the United States Trade Representative regarding US-imposed tariffs and is currently awaiting a response to the proposals already submitted.
The Deputy Minister made this announcement during a press conference held upon his return to Sri Lanka, following his participation in negotiations aimed at reducing the tariffs imposed on Sri Lanka during the administration of former US President Donald Trump.
Meanwhile, President Ranil Wickremesinghe recently claimed during a political event that the negotiations had been successful and that both countries are expected to release a joint statement on the matter.
