Kollupitiya Police report that a collection of gold rings, necklaces, and gemstone-studded pendants, valued at approximately Rs. 4.5 million, has been stolen from a safe at the official residence of the Swiss Ambassador to Sri Lanka.

The investigation was launched following a formal complaint lodged by the Ambassador on Monday (29).

According to police, the Ambassador had left for Switzerland on April 12 and returned to Sri Lanka on April 27. During her absence, five members of her staff had been on duty at the residence.

Police have since recorded statements from all five staff members as part of the ongoing investigation.

In the complaint, the Ambassador detailed the missing items, which include a diamond ring, a green stone ring, a gold necklace, a white gold bracelet, a gold wedding ring, a gold ring embedded with a ruby, a gold pendant, a pair of gold earrings set with sapphire stones, and an Omega Ladymatic wristwatch, among other gold valuables. These items were reported to have been stored in a safe located in a room on the top floor of the residence.

Kollupitiya Police are continuing further investigations into the incident.
