Sri Lanka Tourism has issued an urgent update for all visitors as the country continues to face severe weather conditions. Authorities confirmed that dedicated response teams are working around the clock to assist travelers and ensure their safety.
To ease disruptions caused by flooding, blocked roads, and transport interruptions, the government has introduced several key support measures. These include free visa extensions for tourists unable to depart on time, enhanced airline flexibility with full waivers on cancellation and date-change fees, and simplified rebooking procedures requiring only a self-declaration of weather impact.
A 24-hour hotline (1912) has been activated for immediate assistance, while travelers are urged to stay updated on weather alerts and follow official safety guidelines.
Sri Lanka Tourism also acknowledged that hotels, travel agencies, and industry partners may be facing operational challenges or damage. Relief measures for affected businesses are being coordinated as the sector works to stabilize services during the ongoing crisis.
Authorities reaffirm that visitor safety remains the highest priority as the nation navigates the effects of the severe weather.
