Sri Lanka and Antigua & Barbuda Establish Diplomatic Relations

Joint Formal Announcement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism of Sri Lanka / Colombo and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Barbuda Affairs of Antigua and Barbuda / Saint John’s

Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Sri Lanka and Antigua and Barbuda

The Government of Sri Lanka and the Government of Antigua and Barbuda have formally established diplomatic relations between the two countries, effective immediately, following the signing of the Agreement on 03rd October 2025 in Washington D.C.

The Agreement was signed by H.E. Mahinda Samarasinghe, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the United States of America, and H.E. Sir Ronald Sanders, Ambassador of Antigua and Barbuda to the United States of America.

The establishment of diplomatic relations marks a significant step in strengthening the existing bonds of friendship and cooperation between Sri Lanka and Antigua and Barbuda. This development is expected to foster collaboration in political, socio-economic, and cultural spheres for the mutual benefit of both nations.
