The Sri Lanka Air Force held its Annual Religious Ceremony and Almsgiving at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth on the evening of 22 October and today, (23 October, 2023) with the graceful presence of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa. The primary purpose of this event was to invoke blessings for the dedicated personnel of the Sri Lanka Air Force, both past and present, and to honour the supreme sacrifices made by those who served in the defence of our nation. This remarkable occasion was orchestrated by the Directorate of Welfare for the 13th consecutive year.

Mrs. Inoka Rajapaksa, the Chairperson of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, graced the Temple of the Sacred Tooth on the evening of 22 October, 2023 where religious blessings were offered for those valiant individuals who gave their all for our motherland, as well as for the well-being of the current Air Force members and their families.

The significant Almsgiving, which included offerings to 72 Buddhist Monks, was conducted today, 23 October 2023, under the benevolent presence of Chief incumbent Asgiri Chapter Ven. Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana Thero at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth. During this momentous event, the Commander also paid his respects to the Chief Incumbents of the Asgiriya Chapter and the Malwathu Chapter, who graciously bestowed their blessings upon him, symbolizing the collective blessings for all members of the SLAF.

This year’s ceremony witnessed the presence of the Air Force Board of Management, all Base Commanders, Commanding Officers, officers, and other ranks. The utmost importance, the event was graced by the beloved family members of the SLAF’s heroic individuals who gallantly sacrificed their lives, paving the way for the peace we cherish today. The commitment of the Sri Lanka Air Force to honour its fallen heroes and support its dedicated personnel continues to be a solemn and heart-warming tradition.
