The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has sent a letter to the Asgiri Chapter’s Mahanayake, Venerable Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana Thero, under the title “Being Concerned About the Persecution of War Heroes.”
The letter, signed by SLPP General Secretary Attorney-at-Law Sagara Kariyawasam, emphasizes that history has entrusted the party with the duty of defending the war heroes who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the motherland.
It further highlights that this is an irrevocable responsibility of the party.
As both a political and social movement formed by the people, the SLPP reaffirms its commitment to fulfilling this responsibility. The party also seeks the blessings and support of the Maha Sangha, led by the Supreme Mahanayake Thero, in carrying out this duty.
