During the second Kumbul Perehara in Kandy, two elephants were got lose control of mahouts and ran amok making the crowd watching the ‘pereaara’ run for their lives caused a tense situation there. Sri Lanka Latest News
A group of people who were watching the ‘perahara’ in Kandy lake circle jumped into the lake at that time and were rescued by police lifesaving teams and navy personnel.
The two elephants ran along the Dalada Street and when one of the elephants broke into the corridor of the Queen Hotel and a group of mahouts controlled them and tie them up.
After removing the two unruly elephants, the organizing committee made the procession continue to tour the streets. The security forces said that no one was injured.
