Scattered Showers and Thunderstorms Forecasted for Multiple Provinces and Districts in Sri Lanka

In the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-Western provinces and in the districts of Galle, Matara and Anuradhapura. The Department of Meteorology says that there will be scattered showers or thunderstorms after around 2. Sri Lanka Latest News

Uva and Northern Provinces and Polonnaruwa District may experience rain or thundershowers at a few places in the evening or at night.

Rain or thundershowers will also occur in the morning over the western coastal areas.

It is stated that foggy conditions may prevail in some places in Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces and Ampara district in the morning.

The Department of Meteorology requests the people to take necessary measures to reduce the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department says that the temperature in several parts of the island will rise further today (22) to the level that requires attention.

The department stated that the heat felt by the human body in the Northern, North-Central, Western, Sabaragamuwa, Eastern, Southern and North-Western provinces and some places in the Monaragala district will remain at a “level of concern”.

It is mentioned in the announcement issued by the department that they should follow the health instructions such as drinking enough water, resting as much as possible in shaded places, and limiting strenuous outdoor activities.
