Mumbai Crime Branch on Saturday declared gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his brother Anmol Bishnoi as wanted accused in connection with the firing incident outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence on April 14.

Two motorbike-borne men fired at Galaxy Apartment in Bandra, Salman Khan’s residence, on the morning of April 14.

Currently, Lawrence is lodged in the Sabarmati central prison in Gujarat in another case, his brother is believed to be in Canada or the US, the official said, adding that Mumbai Police is likely to seek Lawrence’s custody soon.

The accused in the firing incident – Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal – were arrested earlier this week. They have been booked under IPC section 307 (attempt to murder). The police has added three new sections – 506 (2) (threatening), 115 (incitement) and 201 (destroying evidence) – to this FIR.

They were allegedly receiving instructions from Bishnoi brothers. On April 16, the two accused were arrested from Gujarat’s Bhuj.

According to the police, Pal had allegedly fired the shots while Gupta was riding the motorbike.

Three hours before the firing incident, Anmol Bishnoi took the responsibility of the attack in a Facebook post. The police has tracked the IP address of the post to Portugal.

The Facebook account in Anmol’s name was created by using a foreign mobile number, the police official informed.

Meanwhile on Friday, Mumbai police control room received a call, with the man on the other side claiming that a member of Lawrence Bishnoi gang would be arriving at Dadar railway station to execute a “major” plan.

However, the call was found to be a hoax, an official said on Saturday.

Earlier, a Ghaziabad resident was arrested for allegedly booking a cab in the name of Bishnoi and sending it to Khan’s residence here.

Accused Rohit Tyagi, who was picked up from his hometown, intended it to be a prank, an official said on Friday.

On Wednesday, Tyagi allegedly booked a cab online for a journey from Galaxy Apartments, Khan’s residence, to the Bandra police station. When the cab driver reached the address, he realised that it was a prank, and lodged a complaint.
