Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has strongly denied a report published in the Sunday Times regarding an alleged deadlock in discussions over civil society nominations to the Constitutional Council (CC), calling the article “fictional and baseless.”

In a post on social media on Sunday (January 18), Premadasa criticised the newspaper’s report titled “Harini–Sajith talks deadlocked over CC’s civil society nominees”, describing it as a “manufactured narrative” and questioning the standards of journalism behind the story.

The so-called “inside account” in today’s Sunday Times on CCS nominations is fictional and baseless. The article is just a manufactured narrative. The quality of journalism in this article is truly appalling. https://t.co/I4hfVK0oLX
