Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa stated that as the country marks International Workers’ Day, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) hopes to take the first step towards implementing a programme aimed at protecting the rights of working people while bringing prosperity to the entire nation.

He said the Samagi Jana Balawegaya is prepared to move forward through a middle path that would rebuild the country based on principles, by rejecting the current political gamesmanship and bringing an end to the outdated and corrupt political culture.

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa made these remarks while issuing a special statement in connection with May Day.

He further stated that he respectfully invites the United National Party (UNP), all UNP members, and all progressive individuals committed to the country’s development to unite in this journey.

He also called on millions of people to gather with the Samagi Jana Balawegaya at the P. D. Sirisena Stadium on May 1.
