Number of robberies has increased in temples police say! Sri Lanka Latest News Sri Lanka Latest News

The police said that the thieves had entered the two temples namely Haliela Siri Bimbarama and Bogahamaditta Jetavanaramaya.

After entering the Siri Bimbarama temple, they broke the money till box in the temple and stole nearly seventy thousand rupees from where the head of the temple lived. They also removed the security camera system installed in the temple. The police also said that there have been reports that the till box was taken and the money was taken by breaking it near the pagoda.

The Viharadhi Theraves have also told the police that they do not know how much money was in the ‘pinkates’ of the two temples.

On the advice of Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Badulla District, Advocate Sampath Kumara Liyanage, Senior Superintendent of Police in charge of Badulla Division, Wasantha Kandewatta, the police said that the Halilela Police will conduct further investigations into the matter under the direction of Halilela Police Station OIC Inspector Ruwan Gunathilaka.
