Haldummulla Divisional Secretary Ms K. Priyangika said that 244 families on both sides of the old landslide site of Koslanda Miriyabedda and the nearby area were immediately evacuated from their residences as per the recommendations of the National Building Research Institute.Sri Lanka Latest News
One hundred and forty-four families of Koslanda Miriyabedda were temporarily evacuated to Koslanda Tea Factory, twenty-three families of Mahakanda to Malwanna Tea Factory, eighty-one families of Dibulgasamulla to Koslanda Sinhala College and Koslanda Tamil College were also temporarily removed, the regional secretary said.
The disaster relief officials also said that due to the elephants hanging out at night, there have been minor obstacles in evacuating the families to safe places in the Mahakanda Watta area. Haldummulla Divisional Secretary K Priangika added that there are currently 768 people in these camps.
