The United National Party says that the two upcoming elections should be postponed by two years. Sri Lanka Latest News

United National Party Secretary General Palitha Range Bandara said this while attending a news conference held today.

Mr Palitha Range Bandara further commented,

“Now we have to get rid of this bankruptcy, we have to build the country’s economy, we have agreements with the IMF and international organizations. If we break these agreements, we will go back to where we were in 2022. So we knowingly go there and perish? Otherwise, after reaching a common agreement, will both of these be extended for two years? Not because of the predilection for the President. We say this too. Go to a parliamentary vote and don’t waste it again. Postpone both for two years, within those two years these issues can be resolved and elections can be held.”
