The government claim severe economic loss
Islamabad is recovering after a violent protest led by Imran Khan’s supporters. Thousands marched to the capital, clashing with police. Seven people died; hundreds were arrested. Roads reopened after a crackdown, but tensions remain high.
The foreign media says that despite some of the roads being opened, the atmosphere remained gloomy. Furthermore, the media reports state used full force last night to crush the protest using constant tear gas for hours and rubber bullets towards protesters. Clean-up teams started clearing the damaged and crushed vehicles and other debris. Pakistan’s finance ministry estimated an economic loss of USD 684 per day due to the protest.
About 1000 protesters were arrested and several died.
