Protest Demands Re-Examination of Fifth Grade Scholarship Exam in Battaramulla
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

A protest is currently taking place outside the Education Ministry in Battaramulla, Pelawatta, organized by a group of parents advocating for a re-conduction of the fifth grade scholarship exam. The demonstration has led to significant traffic congestion in the surrounding area.

The committee appointed to investigate allegations that three questions from the scholarship exam had been previously disclosed recommended awarding marks for those questions to all students, rather than holding a re-examination. However, protestors argue that this solution is inadequate and that a complete re-conduct of the exam is necessary.

In response to the situation, Education Minister Mrs. Harini Amarasuriya has established a seven-member expert committee to address the issue. The expert committee, acknowledging that the three questions were indeed released beforehand, has recommended granting full marks to every student for those specific questions.
