President Anura Kumara Dissanayake arrived at Velana International Airport this morning (28), marking the commencement of his official state visit to the Republic of Maldives.

Upon his arrival, President Dissanayake was warmly received by Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. The welcome ceremony included a ceremonial salute from the Maldives National Guard, reflecting the significance of the occasion.

A group of young girls presented a graceful cultural dance at the Special Guests Arrivals Terminal of Velana International Airport in honour of the visiting Sri Lankan President. President Dissanayake was seen engaging in a brief, friendly conversation with the performers.

The formal state welcoming ceremony is scheduled to take place this afternoon at Republic Square in Malé, under the patronage of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

President Dissanayake is accompanied on this visit by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath, along with a delegation of senior government officials.
