Minuwangoda – The scheduled local committee elections of the Minuwangoda Various Services Cooperative Society, set to take place today (22), were officially postponed following a decision made by the relevant authorities yesterday.
In response, the opposition, led by the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), staged a protest in Minuwangoda today, condemning the decision.
SJB representatives highlighted that the election was postponed less than 12 hours after the submission of nominations, raising concerns over political interference. They further alleged that the “compass” had already begun to display its thuggish influence.
A formal letter was issued to announce the postponement of the election.
