The Bemmulla police said that a woman fell from the fourth floor of a five-storey building near the Colombo Kandy road in Yakkala Bogamuwa area yesterday (17th) around 12.30 am.
Chaturika Madushani, a 31-year-old mother of one, has died.
The deceased woman along with her husband and seven-year-old daughter lived on the fourth floor of the five-storied building on rental basis.
The Bemmulla police said that the death in question was suspicious and the husband of the deceased woman was called to the police station and his statement was recorded.
Investigations have revealed that there were constant disputes between the deceased woman and her husband since some time.
The seven-year-old daughter told the police that there was an argument between the deceased woman and her husband last night.
The body of the deceased woman has been deposited in the mortuary of the Gampaha District General Hospital.
Police crime scene investigators conducted the on-site investigation and a magisterial inquest and post-mortem are scheduled to take place.
The Bemmulla police are conducting further investigations to determine if this is a case of suicide or murder.
