A report has been submitted to the Police Commission regarding the alleged rioting in the New Kuruduwatta Police Station after an incident where two sons of a former minister’s sister were searched by the police in the Gampola area. (Sri Lanka Latest News)

That is by Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Lalith Patinayake in charge of Central Province.

Also, steps have been taken to transfer the OIC of Gampola-Nawkuruduwatta Police and two officers who are said to have carried out the related inspection until the investigations into the incident are completed.

On the 29th, two sons of a sister of the former Minister and Member of Parliament, Mahindananda Aluthgamage, were searched by the police in Gampola area during Operation Justice.

After this incident, the MP’s sister’s husband had come to Navakuruduwatta police station with a group of people and behaved violently.

Also, it was reported that the station commander of the respective police station had informed the police officers who inspected to apologize to them after learning that the two nephews of MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage had been searched.

Regarding this, the facts were reported by a letter to the Central Provincial Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Lalith Patinayake and Acting Inspector General of Police Deshbandu Tennakoon.

There, the Acting Inspector General of Police had ordered to find out whether the Police OIC had ordered to apologize to MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage’s relatives and give a report.

Accordingly, statements have been recorded from the concerned police officers as well as from the husband of the member of parliament’s sister.

It is reported that the relevant police officers have been transferred with immediate effect until the investigations are completed.
