Police nabbed the suspect posed as a tour guide and robbed a foreign tourist  I Sri Lanka Latest News

According to the Galle Police, yesterday (19) a man who accompanied an Australian woman to a shop in Galle city and stole property worth 98,500 rupees including the pair of glasses from the woman’s possession, posing as a tourist guide, was arrested. (Sri Lanka Latest News)

A 22-year-old resident of Galle Kanampitiya area has been arrested. The police also say that he is a drug addict.

This foreign woman came to Sri Lanka with her husband on the 12th. The couple stayed in a hotel in Koggala area. Yesterday afternoon (19) these two have arrived in Galle city.

Claiming that the suspect was a tourist guide, the foreigner took the couple to several shops in Galle city. After buying the goods, the foreign woman’s husband wanted to have his hair cut, so he was taken to a hair dresser in Kekiribokka area.

Meanwhile, the foreign woman went to a sewing place with the suspect. There, the suspect has stolen the foreign woman’s handbag without being seen by her.

The pair of glasses worth 50 dollars, 51,250 Sri Lankan currency and 37,000 rupees was in that wallet. The suspect was arrested by the police and 15,120 rupees and the pair of glasses was found in his possession.

The suspect was arrested by a team of officers including D.G. Ananda, OIC of the Crime Division of the Galle Police.
