In a significant move to curb organized criminal activities, 15 teams from the Police Special Task Force (STF) have been deployed to investigate and suppress operations linked to 18 organized crime groups, according to police sources.
Speaking at a media briefing held yesterday (19), Police Media Spokesperson, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Buddhika Manatunga, revealed that a total of 46 shooting incidents have been reported across the country over the past year.
He further noted that 31 of these shootings were directly attributed to the activities of organized crime syndicates.
