Police arrest a husband who murdered his wife for her insurance.

The Pitigala police arrested the 24-year-old husband of the woman, who is said to have killed her wife under a cab by promising to give a cash contract of 20 lakh rupees to a friend.

According to police, investigations have confirmed that the suspect’s wife had taken four life insurance policies for fifty lakhs and this was done to get the insurance compensation.

The Pitigala police are conducting extensive investigations to arrest the best friend of the 24-year-old suspect who was arrested for killing the woman by deliberately putting her under the cab.

The suspect husband and his best friend are said to have planned to kill the wife in the belief that she had died in a car accident.

A Pitigala police officer said that investigations have revealed that the arrested suspect’s wife is a garment factory worker. The police say that she had taken out four life insurance policies and obtained four deeds for that.

The police say that investigations have confirmed that the husband has executed such a plan to prove to the insurance company that Happa was deliberately killed in a car and get her insurance compensation.

A garment factory worker named Nirosha Udayangani of Vanniarachchila, forty years old, who was a resident of Diakithulkand area, Wattahena, was killed in this way.

The arrested 24-year-old suspect is an unemployed youth residing in Galle area.
