Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya held talks with India’s Minister of External Affairs, Dr. S. Jaishankar, in New Delhi today (October 16). The discussion focused on India’s continued support to Sri Lanka and enhancing cooperation in education and capacity building.
The meeting comes as part of Prime Minister Amarasuriya’s maiden official visit to India since assuming office. Arriving in New Delhi earlier today, she is scheduled to meet with Indian political leaders to deliberate on key bilateral issues of mutual interest.
During her visit, the Prime Minister will also deliver the keynote address at the NDTV World Summit, jointly organised by NDTV and the Chintan Research Foundation. In her capacity as Sri Lanka’s Education Minister, she is set to visit the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and NITI Aayog to explore new avenues for collaboration in education and technology.
Prime Minister Amarasuriya departed from the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) at 12:40 a.m. today on SriLankan Airlines flight UL-191. She will remain in India until October 18.
