Provincial Council Election Funds Not Used for Disaster Relief, Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya Says

The Prime Minister made these remarks while addressing Parliament today (10).

During her statement, Prime Minister Amarasuriya said that all financial assistance received from donors to provide relief to disaster-affected people and rebuild damaged infrastructure has been securely deposited into a special account maintained under the supervision of the Deputy Treasury Secretary.

She further stated that these funds will be utilized in a transparent and efficient manner for projects identified based on national priorities and the requirements of the affected communities.

According to the Prime Minister, the projects will primarily focus on providing assistance to those affected by disasters, restoring livelihoods, and rebuilding damaged public infrastructure and essential services.

She also emphasized that the management and utilization of all funds will be carried out with the highest level of transparency, accountability, and in accordance with the principles of good governance.
