Indian media reported that Ilayaraja’s daughter, singer Bhavatharini, died while suffering from cancer and receiving Ayurvedic treatment in Sri Lanka.
It is said that Bhavadharini, who has been suffering from cancer for the past 5 months, was undergoing Ayurvedic treatment in Sri Lanka.
She won the National Award for Best Female Playback Singer for the song Mailpola Ponnu Onnu from Bharti composed by Ilayaraja.
Songs like ‘En Vidya Sannal’ from the movie Raman Attullah and ‘Thaliye Thaka Alai’ from the movie ‘Thamirabharani’ are among the songs sung by Bawdharini.
Bhavadharani was 47 years old when he died. She is famous for singing many songs in more than 30 films.
Ilayaraja’s daughter Bhavadharani passed away due to poor health and her death has come as a shock to the film industry, according to the Indian media.
The body of Mr Ilayaraja’s daughter will be taken to Chennai tomorrow evening.
