Today in Parliament, a heated debate erupted over the government’s decision not to appoint an Inspector General of Police, despite a Supreme Court order. The government announced plans to refer the matter back to the Legislative Assembly.
However, the opposition argued that failing to implement the court’s decision is disrespectful to the judiciary.
“The President appointed an Acting Attorney General when the Attorney General’s service extension was not granted. Why can’t an Acting Inspector General be appointed now?” the opposition questioned.
