Pakistan Supreme Court Orders Urgent Medical Review for Imran Khan After Vision Loss Report

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered an urgent medical evaluation for jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan following a report highlighting severe vision loss in his right eye. An amicus curiae report submitted to the court stated that Khan has lost approximately 85% of vision in that eye.

A three-judge bench directed prison and health authorities to arrange immediate specialist care for the former leader and submit a detailed medical report to the court by February 16, 2026. The court emphasized the importance of safeguarding Khan’s health while ensuring that he receives appropriate treatment without delay.

Legal experts say the directive underscores the judiciary’s role in balancing the rights and safety of incarcerated individuals with ongoing legal proceedings.

Khan, who has been in custody, has previously raised concerns over his medical care, which has become a point of contention in Pakistan’s political discourse.
