The Sri Lanka Police have reported that over 80,000 devotees have gathered in Kandy city by 6:00 PM today (22nd) in preparation for the “Siri Dalada Wandana” ceremony scheduled for tomorrow (23rd).
In a statement, the police indicated that the number of devotees is expected to surpass 100,000 by tomorrow morning. Given the anticipated increase in attendance throughout the day, the authorities also announced that the “Siri Dalada Wandana” can be performed for an additional four days, excluding tomorrow. As such, the public is encouraged to consider visiting on alternative days, thereby ensuring a smoother and more comfortable pilgrimage experience.
The “Siri Dalada Wandana” began on the 18th, and a large number of devotees have been visiting the Tooth Relic for worship up until today (22nd).
