Our leaders plead worldwide for food! Shame! Avoid parties and carnivals now! Feed needy families! Cardinals advise before Christmas.

According to media reports, 6.1 million people in this country are hungry. We cannot celebrate Christmas joyfully while the country is in such ruins. This has happened to the country as a result of the rulers’ bad behaviour. They travel round  the world begging for food and water. We should be ashamed of approaching strangers for food and drink. Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith made the remark following a Christmas carol concert called “Birth of Hope” at Kalutara Siri Kurusa High School.

This year, celebrate Christmas at the cowshed. That is the location of Christmas. Give a meal to a poor house in your neighbourhood. Christmas is about giving rather than receiving. That is Christ’s message. He stated.

Financial assistance was given to needy families, and scholarships were given to some talented children from low-income families.
