A significant number of opposition party leaders have walked out of the Parliament Chamber this morning (17), protesting what they allege to be the partisan behavior of the Speaker.
Following the walkout, a discussion was held among several Members of Parliament from opposition political parties, led by the Leader of the Opposition, Sajith Premadasa.
Among those who took part in the discussion were entrepreneur and MP Dilith Jayaweera, Namal Rajapaksa, and Ramanathan Archunan.
According to reports, the group has collectively decided not to return to the Chamber for the remainder of the day.
