Opposition leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa said today (8) in Parliament that he is happy with the appointment of Dr. Harsha de Silva as the Chairman of the Finance Committee.

The opposition leader added that there is a problem in the parliamentary standing orders that the appointment of the chairman of the finance committee should be done by the executive president of the country, but the president is happy with the appointment but it is regrettable that he has to intervene in such an appointment.

The opposition leader who said that he strongly condemns delaying the appointment to the position in violation of the rules of standing orders of the parliament and illegally appointing temporary chairmen and giving approval to bring ordinances, said that at that time the speaker had a duty to intervene in this matter.

Although there are various political conspiracies to stop the appointment of Dr. Harsha de Silva, it is a matter of happiness that all parties of the opposition have come together at this time and appreciate the intervention of the President to make this appointment, but the opposition leader further said that he does not approve of the violation of the standing orders of the Parliament by the ruling party groups by carrying out various political conspiracies. said.
