It has been revealed that nearly 3 tons of heroin seized by the police within the last 3 years have been piled up in the Department of Justice and government anaalyst department.
Defense Secretary Mr. Kamal Gunaratne stated in the National Security Sectoral Monitoring Committee that the seized narcotic stocks should be burnt under the temperature of 1000 degrees Celsius, but due to lack of a place for it, the powder stocks are being collected.
He also pointed out that these stocks of powder can be sunk in the deep sea, but environmentalists have objected to that.
Accordingly, he has pointed out that the stocks of powder seized since 2020 are still the same.
