Open verdict on the death of the university Kabaddi team captain

The body of Sabaragamuwa University Kabaddi team captain Lasanta Harsha Dhananjaya, who was in his last year studying in the Department of Sports Science and Physical Education and died under suspicious circumstances, was brought to his residence in Palpola, Paragasthota, Kalutara early this morning (22).

Yesterday morning (21st), the student Lasanta Harsha passed away while sleeping in the university dormitory. He was 25 years old at the time of his death and was the eldest child in the family as well as the only male child.

The deceased student Lasantha Harsha Dhananjaya was a former student of Bandaragama National School and was also the captain of the kabaddi team at that time.

According to an order given by the Balangoda Magistrate, the post-mortem examination was conducted by the forensic medical officer of the Balangoda Base Hospital.

The medical officer sent the body parts to the coroner and gave an open verdict.

The last rites of the deceased student are to be performed tomorrow (23) at the Palpola Public Cemetery.
