A woman who lived alone in a house in Mattuvil area of Jaffna was hacked to death on the 27th and her dead body was found by a pet dog of the house. (Sri Lanka Latest News)

Thambaiya Saroja, an 82-year-old woman, lived alone in the house, and her only companion was this dog.

Some group had beaten and killed the elderly woman for some reason, and in the morning, the dog went from the house to another house along the road and pulled  the woman’s dress with its mouth and brought the woman to the house.

After the woman came home, the dog showed the woman where the elderly woman had died.

After the woman immediately informed the Mattuvil  ‘Grama sewaka’ about the incident, a group of Chavakachcheri police officers came and started investigations.

Chavakachcheri Magistrate has come and conducted an on-site investigation and ordered the police to conduct a post-mortem investigation on the woman and submit the report to the court.

Chavakachcheri and Kopayi police have started investigations to find the suspects because there is evidence that a group of people came to the house to rob the house of money and jewelry or for some other reason and beat her to death.
