Minister Susil Premajayanta informed the parliament today that no agreement has been signed with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), only an agreement has been reached with the staff.
Responding to a question asked by Mr. Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who asked the government to table the International Monetary Fund’s staff level agreement in Parliament, Mr. Susil Premajayantha, the leader of the House, said to the Parliament that the agreement will be announced after receiving the approval of the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund.
The Minister said that the agreement reached with the staff of the International Monetary Fund was not announced in the previous cases as it was a practice and it will be announced after the approval of the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund.
But Mr. Dissanayake said that if there are no harmful proposals in the staff level agreement, there is no reason why it should not be published.
