National Disaster Management Council Issues Key Directives Amid Ongoing Adverse Weather

The National Disaster Management Council convened last night (27) at the Ministry of Defense under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. Sri Lanka Latest News

During the meeting, several key decisions and instructions were issued:

  • To provide all necessary facilities for rescue and relief operations promptly.
  • To keep the public continuously informed by releasing updated weather and disaster information to the media.
  • To advise the public not to be misled or alarmed by fake news.
  • To instruct the Tourism Board to efficiently provide all required facilities to foreign tourists.
  • To initiate prompt plans for compensating damage to houses and farmlands, with assistance from the tri-forces’ engineering units.
  • To give special attention to managing and suppressing excessive water pressure on tank embankments and reservoir dams.
  • To implement a program providing fertilizer relief and seed paddy to rehabilitate damaged farmlands.

Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, the commanders of the tri-forces, and a group of senior officials were present at the meeting.
