National Audit Office Reveals Rs. 2.6 Billion in Unpaid Taxes and Fines from Betting Centers Since 2014
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The National Audit Office has disclosed that a staggering sum of Rs. 2,621,108,150 in taxes and fines owed by betting centers with live broadcasting facilities remains unpaid to the Inland Revenue Department.

According to the Audit Office, these arrears have been accumulating since 2014, stemming from taxes due on the monthly gross collections of these establishments and penalties for delayed tax payments.

In response, the Inland Revenue Department has stated that taxpayers have filed appeals with the Court of Appeal regarding these outstanding amounts.

The Audit Office has recommended that the Inland Revenue Department take immediate steps to recover these dues.

This revelation was made in the Audit Office’s recently issued report for the year 2023, which examined the operations of the Inland Revenue Department.
