Thus, the next candidate in the Batticaloa district list of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress is to be appointed to the vacancy by the Election Commission.
After Naseer Ahmed, the next candidate on the list is Ali Zaheer Maulana, a former Member of Parliament.
The gazette announcement regarding the appointment of the new MP is scheduled to be issued today and tomorrow.
