The Ministry of Energy has urged the public not to be misled by false reports circulating about a potential oil shortage in the country.
In an official statement, the Ministry emphasized that several misleading and unfounded claims—particularly on social media—suggest a possible disruption in oil supplies due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. However, the Ministry categorically denied these claims.
According to the statement, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation currently maintains adequate fuel reserves to meet the nation’s needs for the next two months. Furthermore, the Ministry assured that all necessary arrangements have been made to receive the oil stocks already ordered, without any complications.
Reiterating its commitment to maintaining uninterrupted fuel supply, the Ministry called on the public to remain calm and not to fall victim to misinformation.
