Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Hideki Mishokoshi has said that no decision has been taken yet on the revival of the US$2.2 billion Malambe to Fort light rail (LRT) project funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

“It has not been decided yet. But it all depends on how the reforms of the Sri Lankan government go and whether Sri Lanka can regain the confidence of the Japanese government and the business community, I think that will be considered when those conditions are fulfilled,” said Misukoshi yesterday in Colombo organized by the Ceylon Motor Trade Association. said while joining a forum.

Urban Development and Housing Minister Prasanna Ranatunga recently said that President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s government is ready to renew the LRT project contract with JICA loan facilities under the favorable conditions of low interest rates and 12-year grace period.
