Health and Mass Media Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa stated in Parliament today that he acknowledges the necessity of having a code of ethics for journalists.
Responding to a question raised during the parliamentary session, the Minister emphasized that the government is committed to upholding ethical standards in journalism and has already initiated the process of drafting a formal code of ethics for journalists.
“The government is focused on maintaining a code of ethics for journalists, and our ministry has already begun drafting such a code,” the Minister said.
He further noted that both government and private media organizations currently operate under their own internal codes of ethics, tailored to their respective institutions.
