Minister Bimal Ratnayake Reportedly Leaves Country After Cabinet Reshuffle
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Minister Bimal Ratnayake has reportedly left the country shortly after the first cabinet reshuffle of the Malima government.

During this reshuffle, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake removed the Ports Ministerial portfolio previously held by Bimal Ratnayake.

Commenting on the move, the opposition claimed that the removal of the Ports portfolio clearly indicated an internal crisis within the government, suggesting that Bimal Ratnayake had suffered a political setback from within the administration itself.

In response, Bimal Ratnayake stated that the decision was made following internal discussions within the government and that he had significant responsibilities to carry out through the newly established Urban Development Authority.

However, despite being assigned to the Urban Development Authority, Bimal Ratnayake has not yet reported to that ministry.

Additionally, his official Facebook page has not been updated for several days.

As a result, uncertainty remains regarding Minister Bimal Ratnayake’s current status following the recent cabinet reshuffle.
