Microsoft has announced plans to lay off approximately 6,000 employees, according to reports from foreign media.
The announcement was made last Tuesday and represents a workforce reduction of less than 3% of the company’s global staff.
According to international reports, the move is part of Microsoft’s broader strategy to manage operational costs while channeling significant investments—amounting to billions of dollars—into the development of artificial intelligence technologies.
This marks the largest round of layoffs by the tech giant since 2023, when Microsoft cut around 10,000 jobs.
